Protaras, an eastern coastal town on the island, boasts 5km of golden Famagusta coastline. It transformed into a charming tourist resort in the 1980s, offering a more refined atmosphere compared to neighboring Agia Napa. Previously uninhabited, the area was dotted with windmills, some of which remain, adding character to the landscape. Excavations revealed artifacts dating back to the Greco-Roman era, suggesting the ancient town of Lefkola existed there.
